Newest Bear-meet Bailey

Bailey has been SOLD

Bailey is made from a high quality faux mink fur. He’s 21″ tall, fully jointed with an additional neck joint so he can tilt his head every which way. I had lots of fun needle felting his face using many different colors. I think it gives him quite a lot of character and personality. He has a little pink tongue peeking out of his open mouth. His arms are wired for bending. The fur is very soft and thick. He’s stuffed with polyfil and his eyes are dark amber glass.  If you’d like to have him come live with you, he is available for $395.00

Another Big Bear

Behind the Scenes in the Studio…

The next bear is another big one, similar to Walter in pattern. The fur I’m using is from a faux fur coat. It looks like it was never worn, so the fur is still beautiful and soft. The colors are just gorgeous; an undercoat in medium brown with an overcoat of guard hairs in light gray. I think it may have been a bit overwhelming as a full length coat but it is perfect for bear fur. I’ve sewn together the head but it will take me most of the day to trim every pattern piece along the seam allowances to make it less bulky to sew.

Today in the studio…

I have a piece of fur plush that I’m working with today. It is very long and silky. I think this will have to be a big bear. I’m going to just cut out a head and put that together first to see just how big he might have to be, before planning the rest of him. I’m thinking he will be a whimsical, smiling guy….but I never know until I have it all together. We’ll see what happens. Stay tuned.

My other passion

I’ve added a page to the menu up there called “My Art Website” .

Many of you may not be aware that besides being a bear artist, my other passion is painting. If you’d like to see some of my work, click on that link. I take portrait commissions, both people and pets ( and teddy bears!) as well as commissions of paintings of your special places. All from your photos. And sometimes, when I find the time, I just paint for pleasure.

Meet Kady

Kady the Kermode Bear

Meet Kady, a Kermode Bear
A kermode bear is sometimes called a Spirit or Ghost bear
because of its pale coloring

Kady is a big, beautiful bear who loves to give hugs with her big, bendable arms.
She is about 23″ tall and sits at 17″. She is made from a premium faux fur in shades of cream and tan with guard hairs which make it look like real fur.

Kady is fully jointed She has two joints in her neck so you can pose her head in any direction. Her wired arms are built for hugging.

.

Kady’s face has been carefully clipped and needle sculpted. I’ve added needle felting accents in many layers of wool to build up her eyelids and cheeks to add shape and character. I’ve added soft colors in tans and brown with a subtle shading of pink to add depth and personality. Her nose is firmly needle felted and firm to touch. Her mouth is drawn up in a gentle “Mona Lisa” smile. She has amber blown glass eyes.

Kady is stuffed with polyfil. Her pawpads are suede with painted toes.
